WANT TO WORK
Senior Brand Designer
About The Company
Lustre is a creative agency that creates brands from the ground up and we have fun doing it. We design brand identities, websites, social content, packaging and more. We work with a range of brands, from those rethinking their categories like Bala to celebrity founded ones like Dare to Roam. Working at Lustre is like the best of Monday mornings and Friday afternoons combined - productive, energizing, kind of chill and there is always something to look forward to. We are all about keeping you happy, motivated and inspired. You can see some of our work at Lustre.nyc.
About The Job
You will oversee all branding projects within our business. Every project begins with a series of planning and discovery sessions where we will learn and brainstorm as a team. You will translate this direction into 1-3 visual strategies per project and create mood boards, logo concepts and select website / packaging design samples in order to tangibly convey your creative vision to the client. Although you will be responsible for designing initial brand components you will have the support of our larger design team to execute these initial designs. Once the visual strategy is approved you will oversee the designers responsible for the creation of website designs, social content, emails and more. You will take ownership over the creation of a variety of brands therefore you must have great visual identity skills and range, a great aesthetic and ability to provide creative feedback on logos, website, packaging, etc. designs. You must be a clear communicator, organized and into teamwork - relationships are numero uno.
About The People
The Lustre team is something special and extremely important to our business. Lauren leads the biz, Zoe oversees all clients and Julia is a design wiz - they work hard, are kind, super motivated and will always have your back. Your other pals will include creative assistants, designers, copywriters and web developers. And our clients are absolutely wonderful and we take great care of them!
A's To Your Q's
What deliverables will I be responsible for? You will be responsible for creating 1-3 branding concepts for each project which typically requires you to design a logo concept, styling and conceptual designs (ie: 1 website section, an icon design, packaging, etc.) for each - all of which are packaged up into concept boards for the client. You will not always be required to design all of this yourself given we have a larger design team to assist you but you must be able to design as needed.
What type of direction will I receive? You will have the level of support you need when you need it - and it's a bit different for everyone. To start you will have the support of our Creative Director, Lead Designer and Director of Strategy - who are going to show you the ropes, brief you on projects, help you define brand parameters and assist you from a strategic and design perspective - they are great teachers, phenomenal teammates and a total pleasure to work with.
What platforms will I be using? Just like milk and cookies, Asana, Adobe CS and Figma go hand in hand in our world. Asana makes project management, communications and project briefing a total breeze so that you can focus on your best creative work. While Adobe CS / Figma let you execute pretty much all of your designs, it's also where we store all feedback so it's easy as pie to execute.
I'm proficient in Adobe CS but not a wiz with Figma, is that ok? No biggie. We are ride or die Figma users and will show you the ropes.
How do I communicate with team members? We have a standing weekly call to go over scheduling, handle a lot of communications via Asana and have video / old fashioned calls as needed.
Where do I work from? You can work remotely from where you work best during this bizarro time we are living in. We currently have a gorgeous space in NYC (Meatpacking district) that we would love to use to meet 2-4x per month as a team however this is not required if you do not live in the NYC area.
When do I work? You must be able to work during normal business hours Monday - Friday. We are very organized and take work/life balance seriously. We are major fans of breathing room and understand that it leads to happier, more creative designers.
What does this j-o-b pay? Salary commensurates with creative capabilities and experience. Please let us know what you're looking to make when you apply.
Benefits? 26 days of paid time off (12 holidays + 14 vacation / personal). Quarterly training and learning opportunities. Annual team offsite. Gifts and goodies that align with research and clients (Bala bangles, Nori Press, Tequila, etc.). We’re a tight knit team and believe in flexibility, normal working hours and a positive, supportive work environment.
